Hi! I'm Marrin.

Hi! I'm Marrin.

I am a multidisciplinary artist interested in the value of care, invisible labor, and queering expectations of The Mother/The Mother Body.

I accumulate domestic stuff, images, sounds, and the accompanying feelings– misutilizing them through processes of bastardized craft and purchased shortcuts (currently by way of customized printed products) to create sculpture, installation, and time-based media.

While my work leans towards a pathetic aesthetic, I maintain perceivable breaths of earnest joy and life–hope for these objects, characters, and environments to progress and overcome. I’m in pursuit of felt exhaustion, felt absurdity, and felt failure– the lasting note being a felt motivation to shift attitudes and behavior.

Core text-based research includes Jack Halberstam’s The Queer Art of Failure, Be Oakley’s essay Failure As Futuremaking, and Miranda July’s All Fours.

Currently, I am working on my thesis in my final year in the Studio Art MFA program at CSULB. That said, my work is very much in flux— updated artwork images and documentation are forthcoming.
